Sarasota, FL, January 24, 2022. The Booker Promise Foundation has partnered with Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County (TSIC) for Booker High School student success. The Booker Promise Foundation’s mission is to provide students with the essential skills and resources needed to earn a college degree or technical certification. Partnering with Take Stock in Children and their 27-year history of student success in providing scholarships, mentors, and hope will expand opportunities for all Booker High School students.
“This is an exciting partnership for our students and families at Booker High School” said Booker High School Principal Dr. Rachel Shelley. “Collaborating with Take Stock in Children will accelerate the Booker Promise vision for every Booker High School student to possess the skills and resources to participate in the postsecondary education of their choice and be free from the threat of generational poverty”.
Take Stock in Children will provide the proven program services including a volunteer mentor, college success coaching, college readiness workshops, ACT/SAT preparation, financial aid assistance, scholarship management, and postsecondary degree/certification attainment support. The Booker Promise Foundation is committed to provide the ongoing funding for scholarships. The partnership will continue to receive a dollar-for-dollar match on scholarship purchases through the Florida Prepaid College Foundation STARS program, thereby, doubling the impact of a scholarship investment for a low-income, at-risk student.
“The TSIC community partnership model demonstrates the power of collaboration to serve more students with efficiency and effectiveness” commented Take Stock in Children Executive Director Lisa Bechtold. “We are confident that leveraging the strengths of both organizations will prove to be a catalyst and model for improved student performance and success. College dreams can become reality”.
We are honored by the support of the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation to launch this initiative to benefit underserved students and families at Booker High School in Sarasota County.
